What is Soundwave Therapy?

Sound wave therapy, or acoustic wave therapy, is a non-invasive medical treatment
that uses sound waves to promote healing, reduce pain, and enhance tissue regeneration. This innovative therapy leverages the power of sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, making it an effective treatment for various medical conditions.
Sound wave therapy uses sound waves to create vibrations within the body. These vibrations generate pressure waves that can penetrate tissues, promoting increased blood flow, collagen production, and the breakdown of fibrous tissue. The therapy harnesses the body’s inherent repair mechanisms, stimulating cell proliferation
and enhancing blood circulation to the targeted areas. This process accelerates
healing and reduces inflammation and pain.

Types of Sound Waves

Sound wave therapy can be categorized based on the frequency of the sound waves used:
Types of Sound Waves: Low-Frequency Sound Waves Banner

Low-Frequency Sound Waves

Low-frequency sound waves are specifically tailored to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis, and muscle spasms, providing an effective solution for pain relief.

This therapeutic approach harnesses the power of low-frequency waves to significantly reduce pain, enhance mobility, and promote the healing of soft tissues. Through targeted application, low-frequency sound wave therapy provides a non-surgical route to pain relief, deeply penetrating affected areas to alleviate discomfort and improve overall tissue health.

Types of Sound Waves: High-Frequency Sound Waves Banner

High-Frequency Sound Waves

High-frequency sound waves, particularly utilized in Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), are instrumental in accurately targeting
and treating precise tissue areas. This advanced therapy is highly.

effective for various conditions, including managing neck pain, inflammation of the plantar fascia, rehabilitation from foot injuries, skin conditions, wound healing, and certain pain management strategies.

What to Expect During a Soundwave Therapy Session

Soundwave Therapy Session: Consultation & Assessment Banner

Consultation & Assessment

Our soundwave therapy starts with
a comprehensive consultation, during which our highly skilled foot doctor assesses your

condition through examination and possibly imaging. This initial step is essential for creating a customized treatment plan. During the same visit after your assessment, you’ll be prepared for the first treatment session. You’ll be positioned comfortably, ensuring the affected foot is accessible.

Soundwave Therapy Session: Preparation Banner

Preparation

A special gel is applied to the treatment area
to facilitate the effective transmission of sound waves. Using a handheld device, the therapist

administers sound waves to the injured foot. This process is quick, typically lasting 5 to 10 minutes, and involves a tapping sensation without pain.

Once the session ends, the gel is cleaned off, and you’re ready to go. There is no downtime required, so most patients can immediately

return to their daily routine.

Treatment Duration & Aftercare

Typically, an entire treatment involves 3 to 5 sessions scheduled a week apart. Each session is brief, making it convenient even for busy individuals. Soundwave therapy aftercare includes:
Regular follow-ups will track your progress and adjust the treatment as needed.
A clinical evaluation 12 weeks after the last session is recommended. Documented data indicate a 77% improvement in symptoms; however, surgery or other therapies can be considered if symptoms still exist after 3-4 months.
Soundwave therapy offers an efficient path to relief and healing for foot conditions by combining diagnostic consultation with immediate treatment. It minimizes disruption to your life and maximizes the therapy’s effectiveness.

Sprained Ankle
There are doctors who talk and those who help you walk again pain free. Doctor Curson is among the latter breed. I limped in with a sprained ankle approaching the size of a grapefruit and in pain. An hour later, I was walking normally having had X-rays, a shot, and a laser treatment. If you are in the Bal Harbour, Surfside or Bay Harbor area, don't bother with anyone else. The entire staff is efficient and dedicated. He followed up with me as well. Caroljean Kier

Foot Pain
My experience with Dr. Curson and his staff was excellent. I've been dealing with foot pain for over 6 months and after implementing his treatments my pain has decreased significantly. He fitted me for custom made orthotics (shoe inserts) and after a week of wearing them the pain in my left foot is practically gone. As I wear them more I'm confident I will be able to take long walks again. Without hesitation I recommend Dr. Curson if you have foot issues or pain.

Laser treatment for ankle sprain
Amazing doctor and amazing staff, very friendly and they take the time to know your history and seek the best treatment possible for your specific case. I decided to give them my full confidence for a chronic ankle sprain that just wouldn't go away. The laser treatment was really helpful and they did a set of custom orthotics that are really much better than the off-the-shelf stuff and others I had made before.

Laser treatment for nail fungus
Amazing experience with Dr. Curson and his office staff. I had 2 issues, pain in my foot from stepping on an object that seemed to be lodged in there somewhere, AND, terrible nail fungus from years and years of cycling and running. Dr. Curson dislodged the object in my foot and treated the nail fungus with a special laser. After the first treatment it was more that 50% better, i can't wait for the 2nd one, I can feel the difference in my nails. Fantastic office and staff and doctor... go see him!
